Word On Giving The Gift of Life

As routine operations come back on stream after the Xmas/New Year, demand for blood grows.  The cold weather and hazardous conditions that ensued made it difficult for people who donate blood to attend sessions.

The blood donation services across the UK need younger donors to come forward and give regularly. As you heard in our feature one donation can save or help enhance a number of lives, with  the constituent parts of blood playing such a vital role in a range of disease areas as well medical emergencies.

Anyone aged between 17 - 60 years of age, in general good health and who weighs over 50kg can give blood.  But if you have any doubt and want to find out more and locate a donor session local to you, contact one of the Blood Donor Helpline numbers below or visit one of the sites highlighted.  Remember your donation could help save more than one persons life and with the flu outbreaks expected to make a huge impact on blood stocks ..the blood service urgently need more of us to come forward and give just under a pint of this life saving/enhancing liquid.
